Frequently Asked Questions

WHAT IS CNDP?

The Community Network for Disadvantaged People Inc. (CNDP) is a non-profit, non-political and non-religious organisation. In our name, ‘community’ refers to a group of people living in local areas and ‘network’ refers to connecting with local and international people in order to ascertain where the greatest help and support is warranted.

Every year, CNDP hosts a variety of fundraising events including BBQ’s, dinners, and stalls at festivals. We aim to raise funds for people and organisations both locally in Australia and internationally as well.

WHAT ARE THE AIMS OF CNDP?

CNDP aims to help people who:

  • are socio-economically disadvantaged (e.g. those who struggle to access basic necessities such as food, clothing, shelter, education and medical care)
  • lack financial or economic support
  • suffer from health issues such as physical and mental disability
  • are struck by natural calamities or disasters

Our organisation does not discriminate on the basis of gender, age, religious beliefs or culture. We believe in supporting people from all backgrounds.

When was CNDP formed?

CNDP was formed in 2014 (then known as Phulbari Support Group) by a group of Bangladeshi-born Australians, as a way to help the Phulbari English Medium Kindergarten in Bangladesh.  In 2015, our founding members then sought this opportunity to establish an official organisation that could have a greater reach and help many different communities both locally and internationally.

Where does the fundraising money go?

Every year CNDP chooses different organisations/projects to donate to. As we are a non-profit organisation, ALL the fundraising money raised each year is donated to the chosen organisation/project. Our past donations have gone to:

2013

  • Phulbari English Medium Kindergarten, Bangladesh ($4300)

2015

  • The Royal Children’s Hospital, Melbourne, Australia ($1500)
  • Melbourne Metro Bangla School, Australia ($1300)
  • Scholarship program at Maizpara Secondary School, Bangladesh ($785)

2016

  • The Fred Hollows Foundation, Australia ($2000)
  • International Voluntary Foundation, Faridpur, Bangladesh ($1000)
