Newsletter June 2022

Dear Respected CNDP members and supporters,

Thank you all very much for attending Community Network for Disadvantaged People (CNDP) and Settlement Services International Limited (SSI) Australia Gambling Awareness meeting workshop which took place on Sunday the 5th of June 2022 at Wunggurrwil Dhurrung Centre, Wyndham Vale.

We would like to thank SSI for funding this workshop. Without their support and encouragement for CNDP, it would not have been possible to hold such an event.

We are also thanking to Mr. Obaidhur Chowdhury (Obie), Advocate, Jobs Victoria, and SSI for attending the workshop and giving a wonderful presentation about the issue of gambling, and how we can help people with addiction. SSI and Job Victoria’s activities regarding not only gambling issues but also about other activities as well were also very clear and commendable.

All the speakers gave extraordinary speeches and everyone in the room was overwhelmed and had an excellent vibe and positive feel, despite talking about such a difficult social issue, which affects individuals in such a silent but serious manner.

We are also thanking our six (6) guest speakers:

    • Veteran Australian Army soldier, Mr. Richard Wilkie
    • Ms. Moenika Wong, from the South African community
    • Dr. Munir Khan, a university teacher and researcher
    • Ms. Nusrat Sharmin, a clinical psychologist
    • Mr. Syed Hasan (Shan), Community Officer, COMM Bank, and also,
    • Dr. Saifuddin Ekram, a health professional who spoke about the effect of gambling on human life and subsequently the impact on their personal life and their family as well.

Thank you again for your support and we hope that you will continue to support us to help the disadvantaged people in Australia and Bangladesh.

We would also like to convey our special thanks to all the members and families of Community Network for Disadvantage (CNDP) who not only worked hard to make the event a success but also contributed and donated a significant amount of their time and money. Thank you very much for your kindness.

Thank you also to all the volunteers who helped with setting up the venue, coordinating various roles throughout the day, and cleaning up. Special thanks to Jakruf for hosting the event on the day, including raffle draws; Well done to the CNDP executives for putting together a wonderful quality workshop.

On behalf of the CNDP executive committee, thanks to all the attendees and the well-wishers from the bottom of our hearts.
